Emerson is now 2!

I can't believe my sweet baby, Emerson, is already 2 years old. Where did the time fly? I remember bringing him home right after Hurricane IKE with NO power or hot water. All I could think about was how amazing it was to hold him in my arms.....tears of joy!

His farm birthday party is not until October. So we decided to just decided to celebrate as a family. We took him to Stomping Grounds in Sugarland and then out for some yummy pizza. He was so exhausted he fell asleep on the way home.

Happy Birthday...my sweet Emerson, Pooh Bear!

Our Trip to Sedona, AZ

I know it has been a couple of weeks now, but I wanted to tell you about our trip to Sedona, AZ. Alex and I had a fabulous time at our friends Julee's wedding! Our mornings consisted of eating breakfast at our hotel and then heading out for a hike. Sedona is a fabulous place to do hiking. :) The weather was amazing. Overcast, in the high 70's.

Friday, was a long day. I arrived in Phoenix around 1pm and Alex's flight from Japan wasn't due to land until 7pm, so I decided to go to the movies at a nearby mall...yes all by myself...to kill some time. Once Alex finally landed we headed to Sedona (a 2 hour drive) and checked in around midnight.

Saturday, wedding day for Julee and Patrick. We got up ate breakfast, did a quick hike and got ready for our couples massage at a nearby spa. It was amazing!!! We got done just in time to get dressed for the wedding and catch the shuttle to what was going to be an interesting ride to the wedding site. Our driver was crazy. He had the music on loud, kept turning around to talk to us while almost driving off the road. I think I almost had a heart attack a couple of times. Needless to say, it was all worth it when we pulled up to this amazing house in the middle of Sedona; surrounded by mountains everywhere. :) The wedding was a beautiful evening and the food was Julee's favorite. Mexican food...REAL MEXICAN FOOD!!!

Sunday, we got up for breakfast and then off to brunch in at the Red Rock Cafe. After brunch we changed into hiking attire and went on a 3 hour hike with another couple and it was a blast. :) We ended the evening shopping and having dinner at Savannah's (Steak and Seafood), I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Monday, we got up early and drove to the Grand Canyon, spend the day there hiking, eating ice cream and enjoying the most amazing views. It definitely was some amazing husband and wife time. :)

Tuesday, we headed to the airport and arrived back in Houston...soooo excited to see our sweet baby Emerson. We missed him terribly. Grammie did an amazing job with him all week and spoiled him with lots of Thomas the Train toys. :) What a great vacation!

POTTY TIME?

Just thought I would post this because I was so excited! For the past couple of months, Alex and I have been reading POTTY books to Emerson, taking him to the POTTY with us and let him FLUSH the toilet (the words in caps are words he says). On Saturday afternoon, I was cleaning the dishes and Emerson yells "PEE PEE, POTTY" and runs to the bathroom. With a desperate look on his face, he asks for HELP to open the door. I was in complete shock, since he really hasn't been all that interested and we haven't been pushing the subject. After opening the door, Emerson walks over to the toilet, lifts the lid and pulls up his shirt(all to my amazement!) and tries to sit on the POTTY! I helped him up and he looked down in the toilet and said PEE PEE!

After a couple of tries, we never actually went PEE PEE so I helped him get his diaper back on, he shut the lid and flushed the toilet.

I am so proud of that moment, so today Me and his Aunt Ashley helped him pick out his first training toilet seat. It is a big green turtle. Let's see what happens! :)

SOCCER TOTS!

Emerson has been playing soccer this summer with his daddy and really enjoying it. Alex has to leave for Japan on Friday for work, so I got to take Emerson to his last class. He is already such a good kicker.

BABY MOORE #2 - SPRING & SUMMER!

I am determined to someday get this blog updated on a regular basis, but I am such a beginner and time is limited most of my days. I wonder why? :)

So far this years Spring and Summer has been great! The Lord has blessed us with some many things. I will be brief and highlight our favorites:

a. Back in March, we were so grateful to announce the coming of BABY MOORE #2. He or She will be a surprise, so get ready to find out sometime in December. Our expecting date is December 21st. We may have a Christmas baby on our hands. Emerson is going to be so excited!!!

b. April, we spent Easter with Alex's parents and Emerson looks so adorable in his bunny smock outfit and Grammie bought Emerson some cute dressup shoes to match. We had a great visit with everyone. We also got to meet for the first time our new niece Mary Katherine Gross. Emerson was very interested in baby Mary K. (I am hoping that is a good sign for us). We also did lots of playdates with friends, visits with Mema.

c. May, Mom and I celebrated Mother's Day with our first Sunday Brunch together. I think we will be making this a tradition, because everything was amazing. Alex and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary at the Weekend to Remember Conference in Sugarland and had a fabulous time, except for the moments of morning sickness for me.

d. Summer Highlight: It has been so hot here in Houston. In fact, BRUTAL is more like it. We spend our traditional 4th of July with Alex's family in Dallas and had a blast. We also has our first FAMILY VACATION with my side in Galveston. We stayed at a friends beach house, went to Palm Beach, Moody Gardens, Rainforest Cafe, Kemah and just relaxed watch Jace and Emerson play together, watch movies and jump on the bed. It was so nice to get away. Emerson also started swim lessons and SoccerTots this month and is doing amazing at both.

e. August: I can't believe summer is almost over! My favorite thing so far this month has been the words, "I LOVE YOU," spoken out of Emerson's mouth. I melt everytime he says them to me. :) He is getting so much better at communicating with us and we are enjoying every minute of it.

Upcoming: Alex leaves for Japan for work on the 20th, but will meet me in Sedona, AZ to take our PARENTS ONLY vacation as well as attend our dear friend Julee's wedding. My mom (Mema) and mother-in-law (Grammie) will be watching Emerson. I wish them all the fun in the world. He is a busy boy.

I will have some pictures up of all these adventures soon. I PROMISE!!!

Friday Night Spaghetti Time!

For those of you who don't know. The Moore family has a tradition of Friday Night Spaghetti Time! This tradition has been passed down from Mrs. Gerry Moore (Alex's mom). When Alex was growing up, every Friday night was spaghetti. Since we all love it so much, we decided to keep the flame burning. Emerson agrees. :)

Valentine's Day!!!

What a wonderful Valentine's Day we all had. Emerson and I spent a wonderful time baking heart-shaped sugar cookies for Daddy and our Stroller Strides playdate! Emerson was more interested in eating the cookie dough and putting on the sprinkles. I don't blame him! I can see a chef in our midst.
