Valentine's Day!!!
What a wonderful Valentine's Day we all had. Emerson and I spent a wonderful time baking heart-shaped sugar cookies for Daddy and our Stroller Strides playdate! Emerson was more interested in eating the cookie dough and putting on the sprinkles. I don't blame him! I can see a chef in our midst.

FIRST FOODS
I can't believe we are at a new stage with Emerson....FOOD....well I guess we should call them SOLIDS. I was a little nervous at first, but I think I am starting to get the hang of it.
We have decided to try and make our own baby food. I am making batches of baby food and storing them in ice cube container trays in the freezer. Apparently, they are good for up to 8 weeks. :) So far, it has been a piece of cake.
Last week, we started feeding Emerson once a day for 3 days avocado/rice cereal/water. Needless to say, he was not a fan of it or maybe in was the spoon that he did not like. So, I decided to change the water to breastmilk and we got a yucky face switched to a "gimme that spoon NOW" face.
One of the difficulties we have had during feedings is keeping his attention on the task at hand. So, I read an article about how to fix this problem and it WORKED! Now when I have Emerson in his chair, I open my mouth and show him how to chew. He loves it and responds by doing the same with any occasional laugh. I also play the "airplane" game with him where he laughed so hard that he spit food at me. :) :(
He has also been enjoying sweet potatoes/rice cereal/breast milk and bananas. He loves both of them. In fact, when we feed him bananas for breakfast, he tries to grab the banana out of my hand. :) I will post some pictures of all of these God-given moments very soon. We are leaving for our family vacation to Washington DC and Boston tomorrow morning. :) He will be trying apples and pears on the trip and I will let you know how that goes.

7 Months
I can't believe Emerson turned 7 months today. WOW! Mom and I went to Frobergs Fruit and Vegetable Farm in Alvin to pick out some of Emerson's soon to be FIRST TASTES. We have decided to start with Avocado and Sweet Potatoes for our veggies and then Apples and Pears for our fruits. Of course, we will be mixing it with rice cereal to begin with. Sometimes I still can't believe that I have successful be able to breastfeed him for 7 months. I feel like such a proud Mommy.
God gets all the glory for this. :)

Its Been A While - Emerson @ 6 Months
Sorry it has taken us so long to send an update. Having a child definitely changes things. I never realized how much time I used to have. Honestly, I love the way I get to spend my time now. Over the past 4 months, Emerson has grown so much and accomplished so many firsts.
1. He had his first plane trip to Dallas over Christmas and we (Mommy and Emerson) made it safe and sound to Dallas all in one piece. Emerson had a great flight. :)
2. He started rolling over right after Christmas and is on his way to crawling. Not yet though. He is getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. It always ends with a SPLAT!
3. He got to experience his first boat ride with our friends, Laura and Derek, at the Lakehouse last weekend (March 30, 2008). He looks so cute in the infant life jacket they let us borrow. He is also talking a lot. In fact, he says "dadadadadadadad" all the time. Everytime I try and get him to say "mama" is just laughs at me. Hmmmmm?
4. We spent Emerson's FIRST Easter with cousin Jace, Aunt Karla, Uncle Josh, Mema, Grandpa this year in Marble Falls and celebrated cousin Jace's FIRST birthday at his monkey party. I can't wait to plan Emerson's. Maybe I should be working on it now? On the way home, Emerson made us pull over and take his FIRST bluebonnet pictures in Chappell Hill. If you haven't made it out for bluebonnet pictures yet, that is the place to go.
5. Lastly, he is beginning to crawl backwards and roll at the same time. With all this movement, he is able to make it clear across the room. With this being said, I can see that my freedom around the house is about to be very limited in this next coming month.
NEWSFLASH!!!!
Be on the look out for Emerson's 6 month pics. We just got them done on Monday. Our photographer is amazing and lives in Pearland. www.studiobloomphoto.com.

Emerson 2 months
We can't believe it has been 2 months. We have learned so much about Emerson and he has definitely learned a lot about us. We have had some explosive diapers, trials through breastfeeding (which we are now successful at...yeah!!!), sprinkles, long nights, hardly any sleep and spit ups. In the end, it has all been worth it. Emerson is really starting to become aware of his tongue and is sticking in out more. He is also smiling and kicking around like crazy. Mornings are so much fun with him because he loves to talk to himself and feel so blessed to be his parents. He was definitely worth the wait. Probably the most crazy thing that has happened was when I had to pull over in the car because he was crying only to find out he had a poopie diaper where the poop was all the way up his back. When I tried to look at what was in his diaper so that I could be prepare with another diaper and the adequate number of wipes, he pulled his legs up and smile. It was hilarious. He knew exactly what kind of mess he had made.
We have trying to work on his tummy time, but he doesn't like to be on his tummy. He is getting stronger in the neck and the other day he rolled over on his side. He is a great sleeper and we are still try do decide went to put him in his own room. I think we will wait until the room is finished which will be right after Christmas. :(
Thanksgiving was great. Emerson and cousin Jace spent lots of time at the mall and watching us all eat turkey. Rubi and Scooter love Emerson so much.
